Building Defect Inspection

The purchase of a new property will probably be the largest single investment any of us will ever make. Yet, it is extremely rare that we can come across a property that is free of defects because of the diverse trades required to complete the property.

Most people are under the mistaken belief that the local council issuing the Certificate of Fitness for Occupation (‘CFO’) will discover problems such as defects & shoddy workmanship when they issue it. They do not. Their job is strictly to ensure that there are no by-law violations or safety issues.

That said, these are few good reasons why property owners or would-be owners should consider getting a building inspection done:

  1. Find out in advance on existing problems in the property and where they are
  2. Use the information to try and negotiate a lower price for the property as you may have to pay to repair some of the problems
  3. Get specialist advice about any major problems and how they will affect the property over time.
  4. To claim for defect rectification from the developer before defect liability period ends.

At RenoPro, we understand that the road to your dream home can be a long and winding one, and that homeowners will not want to go through the nightmare of unforeseen repairs after purchasing a property or worst still, after renovating their property.

Engage us now for a building defect inspection and put your mind at ease!
